Student Showcase 2019

It's spring...it's April...and that means White Rock Montessori is opening its doors once again and we get to see all of the beautiful art works that you two and Mommy and all of her other students have been working on through the year! We also got to see other hard works you've done in class and science fair projects!

We were lucky enough that Molly, Aunt Rebekka, and Molly, and Mimi and Pops got to join us too!

You both were so eager to show Molly your school!

Aidan, in your classroom you showed us some of the impressive works you've been completing!

Your teachers (including Miss Gwynn), and Mommy and I are SO proud of you and impressed with your works, especially your science experiment on sticky water!

You also had several awesome pieces featured in the Art Exhibit too, including Dark Pac-man and Ice-Fire Dragon!

Julia, we then went to your room, where we saw many, many of your works including Candy Planet, Glitter Volcano, and a "Parts of the Chair" work that you developed yourself!

You also had several impressive clay works (including one in the Art Gallery...rare for a Kindergartner) including "Fairy Riding an Alicorn" and "The Infinity Gauntlet"!

We are all so proud of our creative, able, clever, and growing artistes and scientists, and presenters.

Bonus: Aidan was granted access to my camera, and took his OWN artsy photos of the art gallery. Art about Art! How Meta!

It is SO so sweet to share your art and works with you!

Jumpin' Sunday

One Sunday morning, you both turned into superheroes. Julia, you had CANDY POWER and a little Sister and the powers of sticky power. You were SWEETHEART (and had socks to match, very cleverly). Aidan, you were FIREHEAD with the power of FIRE, then you were WATERMAN with the power of WATER, then you were CAMO-man, who could camouflage himself, and then finally wound up being STICKYMAN with similar CANDYPOWERS to SWEETHEART.

You were abducted by the villanous BOUNCER and taken to his lair- network of obstacles, tunnels, mechanical bulls, trampolines, and balls to dodge,-so he could steal your crystal power from you and never return it.

Despite a temporary truce on the dodgeball court, the battle continued through the bouncey afternoon:

Victorious, and kind of forgetting about their super hero identities, the two of you were treated to popsicles- where you seemed to battle eachother for some reason? or maybe you were dancing?- and swimming with the now-reformed villain and his better-half.

And then you moved on to your next challenge: battling the CHESSMASTER!

Super-Girl, Iron Man, and Preacher Take on Comicon 2017!

We! Are! Groot

Battle Cry, Costumes in public not on Halloween, Dippin Dots, and a "Daddy-and-us" Day. That can only mean one thing:

And you've been excitedly waiting for it since last year...

ComicCon!

So Iron Man, and Supergirl suited up along with Preacher, and we headed to the DART Rail Station to wisk us away to COMICON 2017!

The train ride in and of itself was a lot of fun! You guys loved it and counted down the stops, when not chatting it up with fellow passengers. But you were eager for the main event, and excited about all of the costumed heroes you hoped to see and snap pictures with!

The train arrived, and we were off, with muscles and super powers ready to take on Comicon 2017! (which I guess is technically called "Fan Expo Dallas"...but whatever!)

We saw Pokemon...

and giant Legos...

...and Mario-Worlders:

And as we progressed through the convention center, one thing dawned on me: both of you have grown up SO MUCH since last year.

Julia, you were not scared anymore- and were bravely taking the lead on telling me who you'd like to take pictures with and even approaching some of your heroes yourself.

Aidan, you were not sensory-overwhelmed, and were able to decide on your purchase (Two Ice Hulks!) with conviction and satisfaction.

And, for my part, I am growing too. I may have lost an eye since last year, but thanks to both of you, I've gained a lot of perspective and vision. And the three of us, our powers combined, had a FABULOUS day.

There were heroes:

...and princesses...

...and villains:

...and a lot of other inter-galactic awesomeness:

There was time travel...

...and imprisonments...

We had a Jawa-dropping fun time:

The train ride home was like a shuttle back to another universe, but we'll always have our souvenirs and our memories and...until next year..

.... may you continue to be the SUPER KIDS you always have been!
