The Big Lion King

One fine evening, Aidan, you went out on a 'date' with just your Mommy and Daddy. I know you love your sister very much, and we do too! But, we wanted to take you somewhere special that Julia probably wouldn't have enjoyed all that much.

So Julia got to have a swingin' good time with Yaya...

 ...and your Mommy and I took you to see the "Big Lion King!"

Quite coincidentally, just about the time we bought the tickets a month and half ago, you got really into the Lion King movie, and we play "Lion King" at the park, with toys, on the couch, you name it.

The day or two before, your Mom told you that you what you were going to get to go see, and you started telling everybody!

I'm not sure if you fully understood that you weren't going to see a 'big movie'...but were in fact going to see a live Broadway-style show, with singing and dancing, puppets and massive costumes.

But the day came and we got dressed up and headed out the door to get a tasty taco dinner at Torchy's.

After dinner, we headed down to Fair Park and went in to the lobby. It was time to see "The Lion King!"

As we drove in, you told everyone what you were doing. The Cowboy Parking Attendant: "Um, Cowboy? We're going to see the Big Lion King!" To the Cowgirl parking Attendant, "We are going to see the Big Lion King!"

You were a bit confused and a bit ornery at first, not quite understanding why you had to sit in our laps and why we couldn't run around everywhere. But from the moment the lights went down and the first animal appeared with a "rawwwWWW sing penya!" (well, I don't know how to spell it, and the internet says it's like this "Nants ingonyama", but I like my way better) you were captivated.

You were in awe of the giant animal costumes and loved the music. You also loved talking too. "What's that?" "He's a monkey!" "That's Simba!" "Oh no, an elephant!" "ha ha ha! That's funny!" "Scar, you okay?" "Scar he fell!" "Mufasa, that's his dad!"

One bag of M&Ms, one water bottle, one intermission and a potty break, 3 hours and one really sleepy piggy back ride back to the car and you were done for the night. 

It was a great evening, and a wonderful Daddy-Mommy-Son date.

We went to Torchy's tacos last night for the first time since "The Lion King" and you were very excited. "Let's go see the Big Lion King, okay?"
