Ah.... Paris.
Today, I would say, was the day where I fell in love with Paris again. I fell in love with it watching you two fall in love with it.
The day started with a PJ'd trip to the patisserie and croissants for all:
Then a trip to the fantastic Bastille farmers market where you all got some goodies and duds to really leave feeling French:
And once you tried on your new clothes, the transformation was tres complete!
We ate poulet and baguettes and for petit-dejeuner and then headed out on a lovely stroll through the city where we saw amazing architecture and history and street performers...
...and down to the city island where we found cute shops and...Berthillon ice cream!
...then we walked along the Seine to see the book sellers and my personal favorite place which -despite a lot of damage - had survived a big fire: Notre Dame!
A few hours later - after racing through the city on foot to make sure we didn't miss the launch time- we boarded a mighty vessel on the Seine river for our Cheese & Meat & Champagne open-air boat tour of Paris!
And we had a marvelous city tour experiencing Paris as none of us ever had before!
The bridges, the sculptures, the architecture, the company, the original Statue of Liberty!
Already this was an unforgettable tour...and then we turned a corner and you guys saw it for the first time.... the Eiffel Tower. It was a magical reveal, and you both were SO excited to see it in person. As we got closer and closer and the Tower grew larger and larger you literally were cheering it, and bouncing out of your seats, as if you'd seen a rock star in person! I will NEVER forget this moment: to see the world through child-like eyes, the sense of wonder, of seeing something amazing for the first time. It made me realize how big and amazing and iconic the world still is for you guys, even though you're 6 and 9 years old... so much is still new...and so much can still take your breath away...so why not let it take my breath away too! Paris, je t'aime!!!
As we returned to the dock and the sun began to set, we set off on foot back to our flat. Energized and exhausted at the same time from an epic, iconic Paris Day!
