A cold-ish, grey day in December. You two wanted to PLAY Star Wars.
THAT was a blast.
But then, we had another idea.
How about we go SEE Star Wars!?!?
We've been taking you guys to see the new Star Wars Movies since "The Force Awakens" came out in 2015. You were 5 and 3! Aidan, you screamed out loud "NOOOOOOOOOOOO" when Kylo Ren killed Han Solo. Julia....you wanted to BE Rey!
And now...here we are...4 years later!
And we're going, as a family, to see what may be the LAST Skywalker Star Wars movie ever!
We laughed. We cried. We LOVED IT! The FORCE was strong with All of us!
When we got home, we made lightsabers together. And then an epic battle took place!
"Hey Julia and Aidan, do you want to dress up in costumes and go to a big comic book place where other people will be dressed up in cosutmes...and R2-D2 will be there?" I asked
Answer: YES!!!!
So we suited up:
Aidan: After putting on Darth Vader and Human Torch, you decided to be ROBIN!
Julia: After discussing being Elsa with a cape, you decided to be Princess Anna!
And I grabbed an old gem of a Halloween costume and was a member of Team Zissou.
None of knew exactly to expect, but boy am I glad we went! And you were too! After all...Julia you got to see tons of princesses and- as you excitedly told everyone- "TWO Wonder Womans!"
You may have been scared of some of the other characters and creatures we saw, but you LOVED WONDER WOMAN and were so very proud to meet her...both of her!
Aidan, you weren't afraid of anything. You got to FIGHT the RANCOR MONSTER with a real Lightsaber!
...and you got to meet VENOM! (whom you wanted to come over to our house to have a sleepover)
I got to meet my favorite character: WOLVERINE!
.
..and Wilfred too! But I'm not sure if anyone else saw him.
But that was just part of our adventure! Do you remember all the fun we had when just the three of us set sail for the Dallas Convention Center?
We left home, made it to downtown, and then traversed the ticket-buying situation in a giant empty, patriotic hall:
And then we were off! First stop was Kidzone!
You both made your very own Captain America SHIELDS- and Aidan you cut out your circles all by yourself!
You played Legos, Aidan, and made friends...
...while Julia and I made a super hero mask:
Then you both made cool LIGHTSABERS!
Then we started to meet heroes, and friends:
We met a lady in a dinosaur costume, some Wolverines, a giant green demon (Julia = not a fan), and some lovely droids, and did some shopping!
After much perusing, Julia you chose a SPIDER-WOMAN comic book, and Aidan, you chose a WAR MACHINE Lego Character. I got a Wolverine Lego character...because I love Wolvie more than some people...
"TRASH BOT!!!"

To wrap up a sweet day, we- in costume- frantically ran through the hall because you both decided that suddenly you had to pee really bad ("I'm gonna pee all over the place" Julia cried). I guess you don't notice these types of things when you're having fun!
Then we had Dippin Dots in the shadow of Spider-man, and near the Joker.
You've been telling stories and telling people about our special day together all week. Julia you even called it "Costume Day" :).
And that closes the book on our firs Comicon and firmly cements your status as SUPER KIDS...and definite HEROES!
Epilogue:
War Marchine found his best buddy Iron Man. Aidan, you made a cool rig for them to co-travel in. War-Machine and Iron Man go with Aidan in an altoids tin and sleep with him in his dragon.
Spider-girl has been flipped through, with many questions, "cools!" and "who's that"s by both Aidan and Julia.
Wolverine lives at my office (next to blue helmet Batman) so that I can remember this day and our fun adventures with a smile every day I'm apart from you.
