Medieval Times: Julia's 3rd Grade GREAT Project

Julia, for your 3rd grade GREAT project, you studied the Medieval Times! You made an AMAZING presentation and built a model castle, complete with a drawbridge and inhabitants!

We are so proud of you!

Battle Royale...at the playground

At one of our Monday afternoon playdates with the neighbors, Julia was getting a little hot and tired, so I left a perfectly normal playground playdate to walk her back up the hill.

When I returned, I discovered that things had changed a bit whilst I was away.

Things had gotten...a bit...medeival:

You know...a bit swords-and-shieldsy.

...and it was epic and amazing.

So I made a movie of "The Battle of Bruised Knuckles."

EPIC!

Get Medieval

In May, Uncle BJ and I bought Medieval Times Groupons.

So you know what that means? In July we got to get Medieval again! This time with Asher and Sawyer, Aunt Kari, and Uncle BJ!

We hooted, we hollered, we cheered on our YELLOW knight until he was decidedly executed in his first battle. Then we cheered on whomever was left, and whomever was winning.

There were three Lords, who picked a fight they definitely won.

There was a regal lady who CAUGHT the carnation thrown to her by the Yellow knight (pre-death).

And there were goofballs, jesters, chicken on a bone, and a LOT of fun!

The pageantry continued at home, where the royal lifestyle suited us medievally.

Knights, Ladies, Scoundrels, Ruffians, Garlic Bread and Chicken-on-a-Bone

My lords...

...my ladies...

....tonight we dress in our finest robes and dine among queens and knights to celebrate the birth of an elderly wizardess named Yaya.

Upon this, the 65th anniversary of her birth, we put on our finest robes, practiced our swordsmanship, and headed to our local Castle to celebrate!

The company was wonderful, the dragon meat was delicious, and the huzzah-ing and chanting and booing was epic!

Our knight may have lost, but the memories and love and fun-time celebrations won the day!

HUZZAH!

Huzzah! A Journey to Medieval Times

To celebrate Baba's 70th birthday, we all went to a VERY special place.

It's a castle.

There's jousting.

And knights.

And dragon meat.

And yelling HUZZAH for good guys and BOO at bad guys.

It was an amazing time! You two LOVED your first experiences at Medieval Times!

Since we told you we were going to a castle, Julia, you decided to dress like a princess.

We met up with birthday Baba, and the fun began:

You were crowned, knighted, and knighted others:

Julia, you loved the falconer lady! The bird flew so close to our heads!

Then for the tournament: Our noble knight, the YELLOW Knight, made it most honorably through all of the prelims...HUZZAH!

But faced an untimely demise...BOO. So we rooted for the next people we wanted to win...and ultimately, in the final battle, the knight you wanted to win WON Aidan! You cheered "He's winning! He's winning!!!!!!!!!!"

Aidan you loved the bread and soup. Julia, you were a bit more adventurous and ate most of your DRAGON meat!

A knight tossed a carnation to you, Lady Julia.  A most excellent display of chivalry.

Aidan, on the way out you found an additional discarded carnation on the floor and presented it to your Mommy. Nobility lives!

HUZZAH! HUZZAH! HUZZAH for Medieval Times!
