Field day 2016

It was Field Day at White Rock Montessori! And Aidan, you. had. a. blast!

Your Mommy volunteered, and Mr. Lewicki took these photos.

You'll see the boy in the blue Texas shirt is your "big brother," Sammy- who is a very nice kid! The other boy your age is Christian, from PS1. The three of you were buddies for Buddy Field day!

A Three-legged race (which you reported was one of your favorite events of the day: "I WAS TIED TO HIS LEG!!!!!!!")

 And your favorite station - the one where you were very surprised to see Mommy- was the "cups in bowls!"

When I got home from work yesterday the first thing you told me was "We had a FIELD DAY TODAY!"

So many smiles; so much fun!

It sounds and looks like it was an amazing day at school!

Swim-lympics 2016

Julia, Aidan, you started swim lessons last fall and you really took to fish like water!

Aidan, you were already pretty comfortable in the water and last summer you really started to get more adventurous (remember the whole "I'm going to be a fish...or a whale...a whale!")

Julia, you were a little more skiddish in the water, which is understandable. Definitely improving and enjoying standing in water, but not quite a swimmer yet...

So, you started swim lessons twice a week.

And you both are SO AMAZING now! kicking, breathing, jumping, amazing! Your first week of class, Julia, we had to get the teachers promise to not put your head under water. 

And now... look at you!

Mimi, Pops, Yaya, Baba, and Mommy and me all came to your watch your 'Swim Show Week' and we're so happy we did! You guys are SUPER SWIMMERS!

We are so proud of how far you've paddled and grown!

You did so well that you both won awards in an amazing ceremony!

Side note...you loved wearing this bathrobe so much because you said "I look like an Ewok!"

The funny thing is, in the month since this happened, you both have improved even more! Aidan, you're now on LEVEL 3- diving in to hula-hoops, swimming to get stuff from the bottom, swimming longer distances. Julia, you're on LEVEL 2 solidly now- breathing well, blowing bubbles, jumping in more freely.

Super swimmers! We are so proud of you both!

Park Day/ Comic Book Day

Aidan, Julia,

One Saturday morning, we picked you up from a tremendously fun sleepover with Mimi and Pops and dove head first into a super fun day!

You, me, and Mommy went and had a picnic lunch at "Woods Park." Mommy had to run to do a few errands after lunch, and the three of us goofed around at park. After a lot of running and playing in the sun, we laid in the shade and sang songs, took pictures, and made a little, black, multi-legged friend.

And then it was off to part-two of our adventure day: FREE COMIC BOOK DAY!

You guys were so excited when I told you that it was free comic book day! You didn't know what that meant, but you were still excited. We went to a local comic store, and perused the free offerings, and you each also got to pick out 2 comic books to buy (Julia, you were a bit sore that you couldn't get three, because "Daddy, you said it was three comic book day!")

Aidan, you picked out two issues of "Plants vs. Zombies"; Julia, you picked out a "My Little Ponies" and "Disney Princesses."

And then we sat there, all together, and read! 

You guys LOVE your comic books and read them, stare at them, figure out what the story is, and are generally entranced by them!

In fact, you can't even put them down lately...after the comic store, we stopped for an errand, and you had to bring your comics with you!

Lately you've been reading them in bed, at the table, in the car...and you show me all the funny parts and cool pictures you found. 

Aidan, you even brought your comic book to school for Show and Tell and told everyone "My Dad took us to the comic book store!"

I was happy to do it, and I loved celebrating "three comic book day/bug-woods park day" with you! 

Reunited

For 1 long half-day year, and 1 long full-day year, Julia and Aidan, you have been separated while Aidan is at school and Julia is not. Now, granted, some days Julia gets to go up to Aidan's class to help mommy teach art, and next year- we just found out- the two of you get to be in the same class together! But, for 2 years, you two were separated.

And this is how you would great each other after a long day apart. Every time.
