SNOWMAGEDDON 2021!!!!

It got cold. Then it got colder. And it started snowing...and kept snowing. And most of the city...most of the state... lost power and/or water. We fortunately lost neither...and we went on snow hikes and made snow angels and tried and tried and tried (and finally succeeded at) sledding. There were snowball fights and capture the flag and tossing snowballs to the neighbor's dog, Winnie. There were snowmen and icicles and plastic-bagged feet and frozen snot and eye juice. There was stew. Lots and lots of stew. And cold nights and warm hearts.

It was the first real major snowstorm in Dallas since I was younger than both of you. And we are so fortunate to have spent the snowmageddon with you two snow bunnies by our sides!

Super Awesome Snowy Sunny Birthday Weekend

I turned 35 on a Friday. You both didn't have school. So I took the day off. And I am SO glad I did!

Like all good birthday parties, there was face painting (by your Mama)!

Then, for my birthday, obviously, you guys wanted to take me to Jumpstreet! As we left, it started to snow! So we played in the snowflakes, and then bounced a bunch!

By the time we were ready to leave Jumpstreet, it was a bona fide SNOW DAY out there! So we frolicked in the snow even more!

Mama re-joined us and then we went to dinner all together!

My birthday weekend continued with some amazing fun and food!

There was a trip to the theatre:

...the playground...

...and a super-duper cool restaurant, which inspired you BOTH to be chefs, called Benihana!

Thank you for a wonderful birthday weekend! You made my wishes come true!

Snow Day: Third Time's a Charm

Imagine waking up to this in your backyard.

Literally INCHES of snow!

Well, Julia and Aidan, you don't have to imagine it...you lived it! Do you remember this March day?

You were pretty impressed with the view!

And school, work, and all outside travel was officially cancelled!

Which meant... SNOW DAY #3 for 2015!

After a nice breakfast and a little bit of warming up, we ventured out into the great snowy beyond.

We laundry-basket sledded down our ditch...

We played, threw snow balls, built a snow man (sort of)...

And then DESTROYED it!!!!

We ate an icy snack...

At this point, Julia, you had had enough snowy fun and went inside with Mommy to get warm and have a yummy more solid snack. And it was just you and me, Aidan.

And we went on an adventure...

We arrived at a vacant lot with a pretty solid hill and tried to sled even more.

You made up a cool game where you threw giant snow balls into ice puddles to try to break them up. This has always been one of your favorite snow activities.

After 3 pairs of your gloves got wet, you asked for mine.

After your shoes got soaking wet, you asked for mine.

This wasn't the best option for many logistic reasons, so you mounted up and we headed home.

The last stretch you ran by yourself.

What a pristine, snowy, perfect snow day.
