Memorial Day Weekend

3.5 Day Weekend! And the beginning of summer for you two (but mostly for you, Aidan, since you weren't in school yet at this point, Jules!) And man-o-man did we do a lot of fun, cool, relaxing, interesting, photo-worthy stuff this weekend!

A lot of quiet moments, a lot of playing, a lot adventure, and a lot of love:

You explored in the backyard and found a very cool monarch caterpillar (which you, Julia, still adorably call a "callerpitter"):

You found some more cool things to do outdoors while I mowed the yard:

...and chased and found some more critters...both fast and slow...

Julia, you found this amazing shell but were very upset that there was a 'worm in the shell.' Once Mr. Snail emerged from his shell- which you left in the middle of our room- you wouldn't touch it again! But you wouldn't let us put it outside...what a conundrum!

We hung out with- and kissed on- some Nodelands:

On a slightly grey Saturday, we made a tent and made the most of it. You guys really wanted to play beans, so beans we played:

Julia you prepared bean ice cream, meatloaf, and tea for us:

Aidan, you expertly made and filled a funnel to move the beans from A to B:

And then -by request- we went to Jump Street. Mimi and Pops joined us to play for a bit too (but they were too elusive to be photographed):

Aidan with the captured 'chi' of a poor teenage jump street employee. you returned the chi before we left, don't worry.

We visited the comic book store, where you each picked out a brand new comic book: "Home" for you Aidan, "Strawberry Short Cake: for you Julia.

You suited up, grabbed your new balls (which have been your favorite toy of late), and we marched down to Zoey, Molly, and Kate's house for a fun afternoon in...

Their new Water Slide!

The ladybug was named 'squiggle worm'

Dinner crew

Snow Cones!

And then, after much negotiating and pleading by both of you and your friends, we said YES to you spending the night with the girls!

So...I probably should have stopped you from using her toothbrush instead of taking a picture, but it was already in your mouth. "damage" done.

The Sleep-over crew!

Now, the 'sleep over' didn't officially happen, and we came and got you guys at 9 pm-ish; but you had so much fun with your neighbor friends and we'll try again soon!

The next morning we hung out, played Legos, told stories, sang songs, played with our balls (Julia you're getting quite skilled at dribbling and Aidan you're doing very well at catch), chilled, and Julia you made some nice "10s."

And then -in what has unintentionally become a Memorial Day tradition, we went to the Dallas Zoo- and toured it in Kid's Choice order:

First: splashing-

Next: Goats-

Next: Dippin Dots-

Next: Mandrills (the same one who didn't like Julia a few months ago)

Next: Carousel-

Family fun day at the zoo!

What, that's not enough? It was a cool weekend!
