Artists at Work- 2018 Art Fair

On a very special Thursday, we all dressed up and headed to school to see the White Rock Montessori 2018 Art Fair!

Yaya, Baba, Uncle Joe, Aunt Sham, Mimi, Pops, and even Aunt Rebekka and Molly joined us at the school to check out the very cool artwork the two of you have been making this year in your classrooms and in art class with your very cool art teacher Miss Holly (aka, Mommy).

Julia, you were super excited to show Molly your school, and introduce her to everyone in the school!

This was also a big year because it was Mommy's first Art Fair as the art teacher at school!

The theme was "under the sea!"

Aidan, you made an amazing blue frogfish out of clay!

Julia, your main piece for the show was an awesome mommy and baby mermaid fashioned out of papier mache!

We saw other amazing works, and other amazing friends, and other amazing works about amazing friends.

I am so inspired by my creative, artistic and amazing family!

Keep on creating!

March 25, 2018

When it's a Daddy-and-kids Sunday, and your kids have a plan of what to do....you do it!

You both wanted to go to Fair Park: Aquarium, lunch, scooters.

So I said 'YES!' How could I say 'no' to these faces?

We all brought our journals and sketched some animals.

We saw a feeding of piranhas and cichlids.

You wheeled around the grounds.

We walked the tentacle sculpture.

We hung out with the mammoth.

We were together. We went home and picked up Mommy to go to dinner. It was a great day...with great people. Just a small blip in the radar of our lives together.

But it was just a great day. I love you both so, so much, and wish such great days for you us well into the future, and for you and your children one day too!

Puppets, Paintings, and Poetry

Acrylic on Canvas, Aidan January 2018
We are in a heavily productive artistic period from both of you, and it makes me and your mother so very happy to see!

It means that your hands are working, your brains are working, and the creative spirit lives on in you.

Julia with "Nail Polish", Pencil on Paper

You both are such natural story tellers, and your drawings help you tell even cooler stories.

Plus, you both are bonding with other children, learning and sharing art skills from your friends.

It is amazing to watch you work, to talk to you about your art, and to get a glimpse into your growing minds.

This gallery is just a snippet of what you guys have been up to when you put pencil to paper lately.

We started seeing finger puppets like this one come home with you in January, Aidan. Puppets are trending in Lower Elementary! Your friends taught you how to make them, and you've been bringing them home, making your own, trading with other kids, 'borrowing' (then returning) other kids' puppets, and you've even been caught staying up late in bed folding pieces of paper to make these puppets.

A LOT of puppets!

Julia, you even got in on the puppet trend too!

"Ariel mermaid by Julia. Powerful and she can do anything you want!"

Aidan, with your interest in Dog-Man and Captain Underpants (as indicated above by the Dog-man and related character's puppets), you really got into making comic books too, Aidan! You made some as birthday cards, and for Julia, and you came up with the idea all on your own!

And Julia, you've been making COMPUTERS!

It's an apple
Your doodles and drawings and writings range from silly, to serious business, to beautiful poetry.

Easter wishlist, with grass, by Aidan: "Glowing Fidget Spinner"

And, finally, Julia, one evening you were nowhere to be found as bedtime approached. We found you outside; your favorite spot by the cedar tree, with a pad and a grape-scented pencil. Your said you were writing a song... it goes like this:

“Make up and nature and
The Easter bunny can do
Anything you want
Sleeping in the stars in
2 days sleeping on the moon
It is fine, just go and
Ride an alicorn on the
Moon. Love Julia”

So from silly to sublime, we love your artwork, your doodles, your menu scribbles, your master paintings.

These provide such amazing insights into your brains and your souls!

They are all beautiful - even the ones about poop; beautiful like you!
