So, we packed our bags. Jumped in two Ubers.
Got to the train station with just a few seconds to spare (for real...it was TOO close of a close call!)
...and we boarded the train to Paris!
About 2 hours later- just as you kids were completely "done" with being on the train, we arrived en Paris! With Poppy at the helm, we were able to skirt a long cab line, and got impossibly smushed into a van.
Our AirBnB was amazing! So airy, light, spacious, and nestled above a smokey Cuban cafe. So European! You all quickly made yourselves at home!
We got all settled in and settled down and ventured out into our neighborhood of Bastille - and the nearest square- Place des Vosges- where we had our first French meal- wine, ice cream, steak, and a lot of well-earned relaxation after a long day of stressful travel.
The next morning started with a pajama-walk with me and Julia to what turned out to be one of my favorite places on the whole trip: the Patisserie- or bakery- a few doors down from our flat! Yummmy croissants...so good.
After a bit of chilling, we ventured out into the city: The AMAZING Picasso museum, where you kids really, really soaked in the artwork.
Julia, you and Molly, were moved to action by the artwork.
Aidan, you were so interested in the Minotaur exhibit of Picasso, and in telling the difference between Carder and Picasso's works in their joint exhibit. You bought a Picasso sketch pad in the gift shop and immediately sat down and started drawing. You proudly showed the work to the security guard. He smile and congratulated you for your work as a "mini-Picasso!"
An awesome lunch, a weird antique store, and y'all trying to communicate with some French-speaking kids on a small little Paris playground followed:
Julia, you put on a puppet show with Aidan and Molly -and although you found the talent a little hard to work with- the show was so cute, and so lovely.
We headed back out to go check out the Bastille area and- hurriedly- find la toilet for an emergency.
Then, Julia and I went out to explore the city and pick up dinner. We found our first of many 'hidden characters' of Paris, and a Pizza shop with an Amazing name!
